As the transition moves to a unified codebase to maximise game yeilds and a lower operating budget, the old MW/Bops codebase looks to have been pushed to the wayside.

In the reveal trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3tedlWs1XY , we see a futuristic modeled MW3 with unflattering game play.
When posed the "Hard" questions by PCGamer, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia, was less than forthcoming with details on what has already been settled.

We saw this most recently when Robert Bowling hesitant to talk, but eventually told the world that MW2 would have dedicated servers. He flat lied.
Now, after the MW3 rage and questions about MW2.exe showing as the actual exe behind the game, and Robert Bowling quitting, I think it's safe to say that some people have something to say about the ethics and current roadmap for 3Arc and Act.

Here's my breakdown.

The codebase for MW/Bops is being deprecated and 3arc has been working with MW2 code for almost 2 years. They are simply reskinning and modifying some of the game play ranks, levels, acheivments etc...

When Bops2 comes out, take note that there will be reskinned maps. You know me COD fans. Been playing since 1, and played MOHAA before that. Old enough to remember.
It will be MW2 reskinned with perhaps a mix of MW3 features since MW2/3 are the same game. I'll have to count on MW2/MW3 players to point out the regurgitated maps though, since I didn't buy either of them.

All in all, I think that BF3 will get a large user base revival, Borderlands 2 will get a large market share and Bops 2 will be a media nightmare for Act.

Watch and see how it plays out. But don't pre-order unless you want to be let down again!

CaDMW3

I've already written an article comparing Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and in that article I said that Modern Warfare 3 was more like playing a movie than a game.  I still hold that opinion.

Since that article I've had more time with it and just recently completed the Single player campaign.  It took about 9 hours culminating in a textbook Modern Warfare boss battle.  Very satisfying but a bit short for $59.99.

Soon PC gamers will be able to traverse Battlefield 3's virtual warzones without sunglasses. DICE is preparing a weighty 2GB patch that addresses a host of issues, including an adjustment to the blinding tactical flashlights. According to the changelog, tac lights will produce less glare over "longer ranges." There's a comparison shot below that demonstrates how much the lens flare has been scaled down at a medium distance.

The patch will also deliver most of the content for the Back to Karkand DLC along with dozens of other tweaks. The IRNV scope is now limited to close range, certain weapons are properly suppressed and conceal your minimap location, stealth air vehicles are less effective, firing a weapon on full auto is less accurate, miniguns are weaker against jets and helicopters, and 12g FRAG ammo is less effective with auto and semi-auto shotguns.
